About Flying Paws Agility Club

The Flying Paws Agility Club (FPAC) got its beginnings in 2005 by Leslie Ems, a dog enthusiast in Bloomington, Indiana. FPAC has since grown and in 2007 became a 501.c.7 non-profit social club recognized by the federal government.

Flying Paws is a club for people and dogs of all abilities to get together to practice and learn from each other about the sport of agility.

Agility can be a fun pasttime for you and your dog or it can be a competition where you travel all over the world competing against other handler/canine teams. It's up to you how dedicated you wish to be to the sport.

Flying Paws' primary goal is to promote the sport of agility in Bloomington and provide a place for teams to practice on a regular basis as well as introduce the sport to those new to agility.

Leslie Ems-Walker - President/Instructor

Leslie shares her home with 4 dogs, Kota, Tasha, Shadow and Pepper. All 4 dogs are All-American's with 3 coming from local shelters.

Leslie got hooked on agility in 2004 when she began taking Tasha to classes in Indianapolis. The game and the fun time she spent with her dogs made her fall in love with agility. She has since attended several classes, seminars and continues to do so on a regular basis. She began trialing in the fall of 2005 and has since earned titles on 3 of her 4 dogs. She competes in CPE, TDAA and USDAA.

Leslie attended the first annual, 3 day, Clean Run Agility Instructor's Camp in Hamden, CT in August of 2007 as part of her education in becoming a better instructor. She has attended seminars and camps with Linda Mecklenburg, Carrie Jones and Wendy Pape.

Leslie currently teaches Intro to Obstacles and Sequencing Obstacles.

Sharon Mitchell - Treasurer

Sharon shares her home with 2 dobermans, a few horses and competes with Rosco, her 3 year old Doberman.

Sharon also likes to spend free time on the golf course and does doberman rescue, which is how she acquired her two dobermans.

Jana Wilson - Secretary

Jana shares her home with several dogs, two of which she brings to agility classes, Winnie and Calvin.

Jana also participates in herding clinics with Winnie who is a border collie.

Ginger Ko - Instructor

Ginger shares her home with 2 Jack Russell Terriers and 2 cats. She is currently teaching the Intro II classes but will be leaving the club in August for greener pastures in Chicago. We wish her luck and thank her for her time with us.
